Every summer hundreds of hardcore fans pour in from all over the Midwest to witness the most cut throat, competitive sport ever to be played on a back acre of farmland or at a family reunion – cornhole. The set up is simple, a board with a hole in the center, a few kernel filled bags and with a sweet toss victory is yours. The skill involved to be the best of the best, in a game many mistakenly believe better suited for a retirement community, is far more involved than the average person realizes.
“Cornhole: The Movie” follows four teams as they make there way to the National Cornhole Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Leading the way is the sport’s biggest bad girl, Gina “The Gun” Rosenstones, a “knocked up," conniving, Jewish Princess who is using her militant mother Tamara, to propel her cornhole career forward. She manipulates what she can from the sport to promote her image and further her acting endeavors.
Current National Cornhole Champions, Kassie and Buddy Bordner, turned newbie bounty hunters, make their way across the country, with their kids in tow, in a beat up RV. Hustling from campground to campground with makeshift games of cornhole, they slowly accumulate enough money to cover their entry fee in the National Cornhole Championship.
Newcomers to the circuit are two overly affectionate Cubans, Carmen and Ramon Estrada. After being abandoned by their motherland after they failed to beat The Americans in the sexy sport of “washer toss,” they see cornhole as their chance for redemption. A victory at the National Cornhole Championship could afford them the opportunity to return to their homeland as heroes.
Finally there is Jimmy “Bags” Menetti, a misfit to his pseudo Mafioso family. Jimmy went against the family to pursue the game of cornhole. His brother, Sal, sees him a disgrace, his opponents see him as a silent threat and his overbearing mother Angie, sees him in need of a good woman and a meal.
Each game they play brings these four competitive teams closer to the National Cornhole Championship and for one of them, the game will bring the sweetest reward of all, the coveted “Bronze Sack."
